"A Photographer Without a Camera," to be unveiled to the public this summer in Arles.
Release date: 29.06.2022
Don't ever tell Katrien De Blauwer that she makes collages: "Let's just say I'm a photographer without a camera. For me, the cut is like the click of the camera." She cuts, pastes, assembles, colors, and manipulates photographs collected from 1950s-1960s magazines that she hunts for and collects. Her works, reminiscent of cinematic editing, are rich in narrative depth. The photos she never shows anyone encompass 10 years of work related to memory. As intimate as it is anonymous, her art reveals possible scenarios for each of us.
