Remix - Les Aliénés du Mobilier National - Hôtel des arts de Toulon, France

29.06.2024 — 03.11.2024

The Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis, which pays particular attention to eco-friendly initiatives, is delighted to host this year's event "Remix, the Alienated of the Mobilier National".

The result of a collaboration between Villa Noailles, Hôtel des Arts TPM, the Mobilier National, and the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, this edition invites us to question the status of objects and showcases multiple possibilities. For the occasion, around thirty artists, designers, and interior architects have given free rein to their creativity to reinterpret and transform pieces removed from the inventories of the Mobilier National, breathing new life into them.

As the heir to the Royal Furniture Repository, the Mobilier National preserves a rich collection of furniture from the 17th century to the present day, intended to furnish public buildings. While many pieces find their place, some, unused, damaged, or fallen into disuse, have lost their heritage value. Following the recommendation of a scientific committee, these items, previously considered inalienable, are removed from the inventories and become "alienated".
