Le jour des peintres : 80 peintres contemporains de la scène française à la rencontre des visiteurs, MUSÉE D'ORSAY, PARIS, FRANCE

19.09.2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM

After the exhibitions of Peter Doig and Nathanaëlle Herbelin, the Musée d'Orsay continues to explore its relationship with contemporary painting and invites you to meet 80 painters from the current French scene. During an afternoon and an evening, you will have a unique opportunity to freely exchange with living artists, to discover their work, their view of the museum's collections. An exceptional event not to be missed!

Orchestrated by the artist Thomas Lévy-Lasne, the event will bring together eighty contemporary painters, each next to one of their works in the museum's rooms. This one-day gathering, a performance of unprecedented scale, will bear witness to a vitality of the French scene that is still too little known to the general public. This exceptional presentation will highlight several generations of artists, the significant progressive feminization of the profession and the great stylistic variety of approaches. Each artist will occupy a chosen location within the nave, next to their painting, in a gap in the hanging echoing the collections of the Musée d'Orsay, an indisputable reference and inexhaustible source of inspiration for them. A strong and rare moment: in addition to an unprecedented panorama of the pictorial creation of the moment, visitors will have the opportunity to exchange with the painters, around their work, their career, their intentions.

Painters' Day will give visitors to the Musée d'Orsay the opportunity to hear the precious words of those who produce art, within a museum that is contemporary with them. An opportunity to bring their voices into the museum, and to remind people that painters speak a cultured but understandable and living language: an artist's language.
