Opening on Friday, November 8 at 6 PM
The French Institute of Senegal in Dakar is pleased to present Déeyante ak àdduna – in Arabic Hamasset el Ahiaa and in French The Whispers of the Living, an exhibition by Franco-Algerian artist Maya Inès Touam. This visual and poetic journey, running from November 8, 2024, to January 31, 2025, at the Galerie le Manège, celebrates the living world through a path combining photography and sculpture, designed to offer an immersive experience rich in poetry.
This exhibition is part of the latest edition of Partcours and the Off of the Dak'Art Biennale. It is the result of an artistic residency organized within the framework of the cultural exchange program of the Compagnie Fruitière Endowment Fund, which took place in the heart of the Grands Domaines of Senegal in Saint-Louis. With the support of the cultural operator Versant Sud and in collaboration with local artisans, Maya Inès Touam explored the subtle interconnections between humans and their environment, drawing inspiration from Senegalese animist tales to create works that celebrate the profound bonds between humans and nature.
