Art Orienté Objet — Demain est annulé... de l'art et des regards sur la sobriété, Salle Gilbert-Gaillard, Clermont Ferrand, France

15.11.2024 — 22.02.2025

TOMORROW IS CANCELLED...

Art and Perspectives on Sobriety

The challenge of the century. As we become more aware of the fragility of our planet and inaction is no longer an option, the time has come for individual and collective reflection to find practical solutions. Among these, sobriety.

The City of Clermont-Ferrand and the EDF Group Foundation fuel the debate by entrusting this multifaceted theme to the sensitive perspectives of contemporary artists. With over 51,000 visitors, the exhibition Tomorrow is Cancelled... Art and Perspectives on Sobriety, originally presented at the EDF Group Foundation in Paris, invites visitors to explore some of the paths towards a sustainably livable world.

Installations, photographs, videos, paintings, music... Nineteen artists offer a dreamlike and sometimes critical journey that, rather than prescribing solutions, provides food for thought on our relationship with sobriety. Visitors will be able to perceive the already tangible effects of climate change and explore different avenues to confront it.

Is it possible to dream together of a more sober world? Can this sobriety lead to a more harmonious and just society? Can it help individuals reconnect with others and with nature? Can technological innovation serve social, political, and ecological progress? What new paths should we take?

It is up to the visitor to follow their emotions, question themselves, and set themselves in motion.
