Thomas Lévy-Lasne is a painter born in 1980 in Paris. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1994 and is a former resident of the Villa Medici (2018-19).
The monograph spans over twenty years of his work, illustrating the gradual evolution of his painting toward a paradigm shift.
Featuring more than a hundred reproductions of his works, it reveals the richness of his repertoire (oil painting, gouache, watercolor, charcoal) and the diverse themes he has explored since the early 2000s.
Four essays by authors from various backgrounds (Aurélien Bellanger, Judith Prigent, Cécile Debray, and a text by the artist himself) offer different perspectives on his work, highlighting the breadth of his practice and his engagement with contemporary painting as well as societal issues, particularly ecological ones.
One chapter is dedicated to his multiple other roles: art critic, co-screenwriter, actor, director, exhibition curator, and creator of the program Les Apparences, where he engages weekly in conversations on Twitch.tv with contemporary painters from the French art scene.
This monograph thus provides a comprehensive view of his visual work and his broader role in the French art scene.
